Continuous RTU Operation
The Low Power SiteTRAK runs on only a few milliamps of current, which
enables it to run continuously without burdening its power source. (In other words, it
does not go into a sleep mode that would prevent it from performing any of its functions.)
Typical operation is to configure the Low Power SiteTRAK to count pulses and watch for
alarm conditions, and report to the master any exception conditions. Datalog records in a
SiteTRAK are stored in Flash memory, which retains data without the use of a battery. For
lowest power operation, please refer to the topics below.
Reduced LED Power Draw
A special feature allows the status LEDs to be run in dark
mode" when an operator is not present to view them. The fourth discrete input
(address X3) can be used to turn on (Enable LEDs) or turn off (Disable LEDs) when this
input is On (power applied). This input can be connected to a door switch on the RTU
enclosure or any other applicable signal. Select one of these modes as a "Special
Feature" of input X3.
Note: This feature only works on the Low Power
SiteTRAK model.
Modem Sleep Mode Output
An external modem can be powered down until a report needs to be sent.
Connect a power relay to the SiteTRAKs alarm output (D0). In the I/O Tool Kit
configuration, select the "Modem Sleep Mode" special feature for this output.
This output will come on five seconds before the SiteTRAK sends any data in any reporting
operation.
Note: This mode cannot be used if the SiteTRAK will be
polled as a slave because the modem will be disabled at most times.
